Poems in the Air
Poems in the Air is a Zoom based advanced poetry workshop taught by Diane Brown of Creative Writing Dunedin, primarily as a follow-up for students of Making Fine Poems but open to others who have some experience of writing poetry. There will be 20 fortnightly sessions in 2022, broken up between two semesters. As many of my students discover, it is hard to keep up the motivation for writing poetry when you finish a course. In each hour plus session, Diane will give a prompt at the start of the class and students will be given 15-20 minutes to write something and then read it back. Over the following fortnight, students will be encouraged to send a revised poem via Word. In the next session, you will be able to read your revised poem on the screen and discuss them. By the end of the workshop in November, you could aim to have a collection of at least 20 completed poems and be well on the way towards a collection. Students will be limited to a maximum of 8.
Fees Semester One: $150 for students who have completed Making Fine Poems
or $200.
Semester One: Starts fortnightly 11am Tues 1 March -finishes 5 July
